3116 Oxford Drive – Durham

Oxford Drive begins at University Drive one block west of Hope Valley Road. The street itself is only three blocks long and ends without connecting to another street which makes it quiet and walkable. And if you like to walk, it’s an easy stroll to the emerging restaurant scene on the “slowed down” section of 15-501. There you have Fosters Market, Guglhupf Restaurant and Artisan Bakery, the Refectory, and the soon to open second location of the Saltbox Seafood Shack where the Shrimp Boat used to be. If you’re in your car you’re not far from everything at Rockwood, including Nana’s, Nanataco, The Boot, The Thai Cafe and the Q Shack.

Kids in grade school? You’re close enough to hear them on the playground during recess and many of the children in the neighborhood walk to school. Duke University and Duke Hospital are less than 10 minutes away as is Durham’s vibrant Downtown.

Many of the homes in University Estates were built in the early sixties and many other were built in the last 10 years as the area became popular and a half dozen or so home were built on in-fill lots, making for an interesting mix of ranches and more contemporary styles. 3116 Oxford Drive was built in 1983 but the current owner has made substantial upgrades. This results in a more traditional look, especially on the exterior but an interior that is more open, informal and warm extending through to a deck and the compact rear yard with its raised gardens for vegetables and herbs.

There are three full baths, two up and one down. Hardwood floors on both levels. Both upstairs baths where totally renovated. The Master bedroom has two closets.
